WFB issue N.8 Out of place
“Out of place” is an expression that operates on multiple levels of meaning: it can describe something inappropriate, a sense of misalignment, or, in a literal sense, an element positioned in the wrong place. It is precisely this belief that the twentieth century begins to challenge. With “Fountain” (1917), Marcel Duchamp demonstrates that simply moving an object from its original context can radically transform its meaning. The “out of place” thus becomes a critical device: what appears mistaken reveals the invisible codes that govern perception and value.
How to apply
To participate, simply send an email in which we ask you to include a short abstract of the project and a few low-resolution images. The project must be related to the theme of the new magazine; projects that do not fit the theme will not be taken into consideration. Once the open call has closed, we will inform you if you have passed the first selection. You will then be asked to provide high-resolution materials for printing and we will ask a few additional questions about the project.
